Deconstructing You

I begin to frame –

the hammer off –

that face burning away

as wood in my wildfire.

Nothing of your features left

to dazzle.

Smell and ash form

funeral of our love.

I took you apart

to find you again.

In the zen of your absence

I see you

as once I did

in morning light of first meeting.
