Entirely for Initiates

I hate most of it too, the cigarettes,

The cinderblocks, the tires,

The rusted pieces of metal,

Every empty soda can

And misplaced sofa,

But I will not denounce

The broken glass spread out along

The sides of the train tracks,

In the afternoon , the shards catch

Hints of sunlight and enjoy

A brief transubstantiation ,

Turning into splinters of light

Which pave the way forward

Into a sparkling vale,

Each one a vessel

Of our shy and unseen Gnostic God
