I Wonder about the Rain

for Robert Creeley

Awoken to grey

pouring in my

with the sound

of the tin sky

all over the

The sloppiness

outside at first

sounds as

if coming from

the other side,

but where

the toy car and

tin pan sound?

And if I go

into that pouring

that outside world

silently slickening

of tinned beans

spilling into

slopping onto the

dull tin plate

under the dull tin

sky—how can

I keep clean?
